Silica nanoparticles are hydrophobized using chlorotrimethylsilane (TMCS) at 60°C. TMCS reacts with PFA surfaces, grafting methyl groups and lowering contact angle. The polymer's extractable siloxane content (low molecular weight species) enhances this transformation. PFA with extractable siloxanes < 0.05 weight percent retains a contact angle >100° after 1000 hours, according to quantitative study from six nanoparticle production facilities, but grades with >Og'irligi 0,2% siloksanlarning aloqa burchagi 75 gradusgacha pasayib, yopishmaydigan xususiyatlarini yo'qotdi.

For direct heating of TMCS at 60°C, specify ultra-pure PFA with extractable siloxanes ≤ 0.01 wt% (Soxhlet/GC-MS) and surface fluorination treatment. Require wall thickness 2.0mm minimum. For continuous silica hydrophobization (8000 hours/year), specify monthly contact angle monitoring; replace when angle goes below 95°. The premium for ultra-pure fluorinated PFA (40-60% over standard) is justified by preserving non-stick qualities in TMCS service where nanoparticle fouling causes batch contamination costing $10,000-50,000 per occurrence. For R&D or short campaigns, high-purity PFA (0.02% siloxanes) with 2.5mm walls and pre-passivation (24h TMCS soak before manufacture) may be suitable. When contact angle decreases below 90°, repair surface via fluorination (F₂ plasma, 10 min) rather than changing heater. For critical applications needing contact angle >105° for >5000 soat, har chorakda kontakt burchagi tekshiruvi bilan florlangan ultra{1}}sof PFAni belgilang.
